The TRON (TRX) MainNet – Odyssey 2.0 has officially been launched as of 31 May, 11:00 am (UTC+8).
Speaking at the TRON livestream A Call For Independence today, founder of TRON Justin Sun officially announced the launch of Odyssey 2.0 to an online audience of over 5,000 people live. “Odyssey 2.0 is complete. All the materials have been submitted to the Github,” he stated.
TRON has once again set another milestone in its community, beginning the migration from Ethereum 2.0 to its own blockchain platform, initiating independence.
“Our global TRON team and our community developers worked twelve hours a day, six days a week,” Sun said. The team strived towards excellence in a “sprint to overtake Ethereum” within merely six months.
Before today, TRON was running as a ERC20 token on the Ethereum platform.
On 25 June, TRON’s Independence Day, TRON will complete its MainNet token migration from ERC20.
Odyssey 2.0 – One small step for TRON, one giant leap for blockchain
“Starting today, the TRON community will be able to download and run Tron’s official mainnet, Odyssey 2.0, on the Tron GitHub page.”
After migration, the blockchain will be governed by 27 Super Representatives, where the election will commence on 26 June. Sun urges all the community members to vote.
According to Sun, it is of paramount importance that TRON detaches from the Ethereum network, as independence is the answer to the “calling of the blockchain error”. In order to achieve governance, TRON must attain an equal democratic system wit democratic elections.
In other news, Sun also announced that their token will be listed on other major exchange platforms after the MainNet launch, making TRON the most traded cryptocurrency in the world. Currently, the exchanges that will be accomodating TRON’s new token migration include Binance, Bitfinex, Bithumb, Bittrex, Huobi.Pro, OKEx and more.
Despite the hype surrounding Odyssey 2.0, TRON’s price has steadily decreased over the week, where it dropped by 4.02% over the past 24 hours on CoinMarketCap.
