On September 26, blockchain industry took a new step further scientifically, as the world’s blockchain identity laboratory – and Europe’s first blockchain focused research facility was launched in the capital of Scotland – Edinburgh.
Blockpass identity lab, the leading blockchain research facility is focusing on finding new methods how blockchain industry can be applied to improve the personal data protection online.
The laboratory – known as Blockpass Identity Lab, started from the collaboration between Blockpass IDN, the Scottish university and a Honk Kong-based firm developing identity application on blockchain technology. The partnership is announced to be worth around 600,000 British pounds.
The Scottish Minister for the Digital Economy, Kate Forbes stated: “This exciting work to explore how blockchain technology can protect personal data from online scammers and hackers carries on the tradition of innovation and excellence exemplified by John Napier the Scottish mathematician that the Edinburgh Napier University is named after)”.
The funding will be provided in order to support the creation of virtualized blockchain environment, research staff and total of 5 PhD students.
The new facility is aiming to build new data infrastructures to improve consent of netizens, privacy and rights.
