On October 9., Google participated the digital currency-as-money discussion and mentioned about its legitimacy during an introduction video for their new production, ‘Call Screen’.
While promoting in the video how Google Call Screen caller ID function will work, two company presenters partake briefly cryptocurrency discussion.
In the video, the product Call Screen shows the identity of the caller, which is “electric company” and the call’s intention, which is the “electric bill being super high”.
Presenter furtherly says, “Cryptocurrency mining takes a lot of energy,” which then the other presenter replies:
“Cryptocurrency? That money is not real.”
It is certainly unclear, why Google participated this argumentation during the Call Screen introduction. However, it shows the companies ambiguous official stance in the sector.
Not too long ago, the company U-turned on their whole cryptocurrency advertising ban decision.
Google declared that its policy will change to “allow regulated cryptocurrency exchanges to advertise in the United States and Japan.”
The video furtherly follows the presenter’s line, who engaged in crypto mining; “I’ve got news for you” and continues, “money isn’t real.” Then the other presenter answers:
“You gonna live that lie?”
