Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA, Director Kim Seok-Hwan) held its 7th Blockchain Techbiz Conference at Hanyang Institute of Technology (HIT) on 30th May. The conference was for the Director to share about issues pertaining to new business ideas using blockchain and how the existing businesses can improve their tech-security using blockchain.
Organised by the Ministry of Science and ICT and supervised by KISA, the conference this time round had a theme of ‘Blockchain makes New Chance’. The conference included lectures by 5 institutions including Blocko, Trustverse, Hanyang University, Glosfer and IBM.
To highlight, Professor Oh Hyun-Ok gave a talk on a topic of ‘Blockchain and Protection of Privacy’. During her lecture, she introduced various technology that can be used to protect users’ privacy and related issues that may arise while utilising blockchain. Also, the CEO of Glosfer, Kim Tae Won, addressed a topic of ‘The Future of Local Currency with the usage of Blockchain Technology’. In his presentation, he introduced various local currencies and the concept of blockchain-based cryptocurrencies.
The Assistant Deputy Director of KISA, Park Jung-ho, noted that “(the institution) will continue its research on security technology for safe usage of blockchain technology and develop an active base for South Korea for our citizens to be able to enjoy the technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the blockchain technology.”
