SoftBank is currently working boosting blockchain-powered cross-carrier mobile payment service. SoftBank’s new proof-of-concept(PoC) development was declared with the partnership with TBCASoft and Synchronoss Technologies, telecoms-focused blockchain provider of cloud, messaging, digital and Internet of Things (IoT) services and platforms.
Recently announced mobile payment will be based on the Rich Communication Services (RCS) global messaging standard and TBCASoft’s cross-carrier blockchain platform. This will enable users not only to make peer-to-peer money transfers possible internationally but internal purchases directly from their device with RCS, SMS or email.
Uber’s biggest shareholder SoftBank collaborated with TBCASoft to develop a cross-carrier blockchain platform, Cross-Carrier Payment Service (CCPS) which makes the global telecoms carriers grow. Moreover, Synchronoss has started the platform since the beginning of 2018 which allows a multi-channel communications platform where SMS, email and RCS can come all together.
The vice president of SoftBank, Takeshi Fukuizumi, stated that upcoming cross-carrier payment service will be useful to merchants to operate regardless of sizes in the market. Glenn Lurie, the CEO and president of Synchronoss, said, “this new RCS mobile service will disturb existing messaging and payment market. SoftBank is a pioneer to bring new technology to the market.” There are numerous reports about the movement in the market with the usage of blockchain and cryptocurrency.
